Variety—line up by size, different uses
A little ball, (cup hands)
A bigger ball, (spread fingers to appear larger)
A great big ball, (use arms spread wide)
I see.
Come and count
The balls with me---
1—2—3!
First, I bend my knees, then I stand up tall.
Down-up, down-up, like a rubber ball.
First, I’m short, then, I’m tall,
Down-up, down, up, like a rubber ball.
I am bouncing everywhere,
I bounce and bounce into the air.
I’m bouncing, bouncing like a ball,
I bounce and bounce then down I fall.
This is my mother, kind and dear. (Thumb)
This is my father standing near. (Pointer)
This is my brother strong and tall. (Middle)
This is my sister, who plays with her ball. (Ring)
And here am I, the littlest of all. (Pinky)
See my whole family—large & small! (Wiggle fingers)
Bounce a ball, bounce a ball, (or substitute the word "roll")
Bounce it all day long.
I just love to bounce a ball,
As I sing this song.
Bounce a ball, bounce a ball,
Bounce it all day long.
I just love to bounce a ball,
As I sing this song.
--Jean Warren
Barney has a basketball,
It's red, and white, and blue.
And if you play the game with him,
He'll pass the ball to you.
You catch it and you dribble,
And you run and put it in.
That's two for us and none for them,
I think we'ree going to win!!!
--Ruth Dowell
Bouncy-ball, bouncy-ball, up in the sky,
Where are you bouncing to way up so high?
Over the mountains, and over the sea,
Bouncy-ball, bouncy-ball, will you come back to me?
This is the way we bounce the ball,
Bounce the ball, bounce the ball,
This is the way we bounce the ball,
On this beautiful day.
Five little footballs trying hard to score.
One makes a touchdown. (touchdown arms, put one finger down)
Hear the crowd roar! (cheer)
(4-3-2-1)

You can kick it,
You can bounce it,
You can dribble it like that.
You can pass it,
You can hit it
With a club or with a bat.
You can roll it,
You can spin it,
And that's not all.
What is it? Can you guess?
It's a ball!

Baby over the ocean, baby over the sea,
Baby can catch the ball and roll it back to me
--Laura Houghton Larsen
And we roll and we roll, and we roll and we roll,
And we roll and we roll and we STOP!
(The children like the anticipation of the stop and then we start again.)
--Nancy Scheuneman Sullivan
Roll roll roll your ball, gently ‘cross the floor!
Roll it back and roll it forth and then roll it some more!
--Lauren Brandstetter
Extras: Winton uses an animal beach ball for tossing. (The legs on the ball make it easier for the little ones to "catch" it.)
