Bats

5 Little bats sitting on a gate,

The 1st one said, "Oh my, it's getting late."

The 2nd one said, "There are mosquitoes in the air."

The 3rd one said, "Let's eat them right here."

The 4th one said, "I'm ready for some fun."

The 5th one said, "Let's flap and run, run, run."

Then, whooo went the wind, and out went the lights,

And the 5 little bats flew off in the night.

A bat can hang upside down

It holds on with its toes.

When it wants to find some food

It spreads its wings and goes!

A bat might live inside a cave,

And fly around at night.

And when it’s dark, a bat knows how,

To get around all right.

The baby bat

Screamed out in fright:

"Turn on the dark,

I'm afraid of the light!"

Flutter, flutter little bat
How I wonder where you’re at
Up above the midnight sky
Peeking down with black eyes
Flutter, flutter little bat
How I wonder where you’re at.

A brown bat flies with its wings spread wide.                    (hold up two fingers)

Here is the cave where it zips and hides.                             (lay two fingers flat and cover with palm of opposite hand)

It hangs by its feet in the cool of the day.                           (bend fingers down beneath opposite hand)

When nighttime comes, it swoops out to play!                  (swoop two fingers out and away from the cave)
