Free Comic Book Day

Page history last edited by Jane McManus 12 years, 8 months ago

Libraries are more than books. Some kids need a little direction to get the creative juices flowing. Please add YOUR comments. Your colleagues would appreciate hearing what works, and what didn't! This was suggested at an ALSC Webinar, Family Programs on a Shoestring, 7-2011, by Angela Young.

  • This is always the first Saturday in May.
  • Check a local Comics Store to see availability of donations.
  • Schedule costume contest. (Prizes can be picked up at Target, Walmart, or Dollar Stores.)
  • Show movies or cartoons.
  • Have light refreshments--popcorn and lemonade works.
  • If you would like costumed Star Wars characters, contact: www.501st.com
    • They will pose for pictures with your patrons.
    • Often they have bulk trading cards to offer to your patrons.
    • Webster Library has had them a number of times, contact Adrienne or Jason, for more info.
