Mermaids and Mermen; Fish and Ocean Animals
A sailor went to sea, sea, sea,
To see what he could see, see, see;
But all that he could see, see, see,
Was the bottom the deep blue sea, sea, sea.
One of my favorite wishes
Is to play in sand that squishes--
To make a sand castle,
Or sand cake...
And leave them in the sun
To bake.
Will it feel good, do you suppose,
To squish the sand between my toes?
I found a great big shell one day,
Upon the ocean floor.
I held it close up to my ear,
I heard the ocean roar!
I found a tiny, little shell one day,
Upon the ocean sand.
The waves had worn it nice and smooth,
It felt nice in my hand.
5 Little seashells laying on the shore,
Swish went the waves, and then there were...
4 Little seashells, pretty as could be,
Swish went the waves, and then there were...
3 Little sea shells, all pearly new,
Swish went the waves, and then there were...
2 Little seashells shining in the sun,
Swish went the waves and then there was,,,
1 Little seashell left all alone,
I picked it up, and took it on home.
Five pretty sandcastles standing on the shore,
The tide came in (whoosh!) and then there were four.
Four pretty sandcastles standing by the sea,
The tide came in (whoosh!) and then there were three.
Three pretty sandcastles standing by the ocean blue,
The tide came in (whoosh!) and then there were two.
Two pretty sandcastles standing in the sun,
The tide came in (whoosh!) and then there was one.
One pretty sandcastle just out of reach,
The tide came in (whoosh!) but it stayed on the beach!
(Sing to: I've Been Working on the Railroad)
I went swimming in the ocean,
On a summer day.
I went swimming in the ocean,
And kicked, and splashed and played.
After lunch we looked for seashells.
I found three or four.
You can hold one up to your ear,
And hear the ocean roar.
Hear the ocean roar,
Hear the ocean roar,
You can hear the ocean roar, roar, roar.
Hear the ocean roar,
Hear the ocean roar,
You can hear the ocean roar.
Swimming, swimming in the swimming pool (hole) (move arms in swimming motion)
When days are hot, (wipe brow on forehead)
When days are cold, (wrap arms around body and shiver)
In the swimming pool (hole)
Breast stroke, (pretend breast stroke)
Side stroke, (pretend side stroke)
Fancy diving too, (pretend to dive)
Oh, don't you wish you never had anything else to do!
I love to feel the sand between my toes.
I dig in it. I scoop it up.
Let it fall.
Pour on some water.
Mound it up.
A sand castle tall!
Charlie over the water (point at child)
Charlie over the sea (point at child again)
Charlie catch a blackbird (clap twice for “black-bird”)
But can’t catch me. (shake head)
Five little ocean friends on the ocean floor,
The starfish walks away and now there are four
Four little ocean friends living in the sea
The crab slides away now there are three
Three little ocean friends looking for a clue
“Glub, glub,” said the lobster now there are two
Two little ocean friends not having much fun
Off swam the sea horse now there is one
One little octopus sad and all alone
Back swims the starfish, back swims the crab,
Back swims the lobster, back swims the sea horse
And they played in the sea foam, safe in their home.
