Hey What Country Folk We Be

Page history last edited by Jane McManus 3 years, 8 months ago

I heard this sung by Sharon, Lois and Bram, from one of their Elephant Show segments, back in the day. The tune is to "Old John Braddelum." I made this into a flannel board song, good for counting, food, and shopping themes. There are numerous versions but this translated best for me.

Number 1, number 1,

I went shopping and I had some fun,

With a rum, tum, taddelbum,

Old John Braddelum,

Hey, what country folk we be.

*Number 2, number 2,

Got some carrots for the stew,

With a rum, tum, taddelbum,

Old John Braddelum,

Hey, what country folk we be.

*Number 3, number 3,

Peanut butter smells good to me.

With a rum, tum, taddelbum,

Old John Braddelum,

Hey, what country folk we be.

*Number 4, number 4,

Out of apples so I got some more.

With a rum, tum, taddelbum,

Old John Braddelum,

Hey, what country folk we be.

*Number 5, number 5,

Got some honey from the hive.

With a rum, tum, taddelbum,

Old John Braddelum,

Hey, what country folk we be.

*Number 6, number 6,

Dietetic pretzel sticks.

With a rum, tum, taddelbum,

Old John Braddelum,

Hey, what country folk we be.
