The Cookie Jar cookies got out one night,

When the cookie jar lid was not on tight.

The gingerbread boy opened raisin eyes,

And looked around in great surprise.

The frosted bunny wrinkled his nose,

And danced around on his cookie toes.

The sugary duck began to quack,

And sprinkle the sugar from off his back.

The cinnamon bear could only grunt,

He was too fat to do any stunts.

But the coconut lamb jumped up so high,

That his little white tail nearly touched the sky.

You should've seen them dance and play,

They danced, and danced, and danced away.

They danced away so very far,

That they never returned to the cookie jar.

(I get very dramatic with this flannel board. At the end, I gather all the cookies, and pretend to eat them. GULP! Then, I ask the kids where the cookies went. Some will get the joke. Some will say that I'm going to have a tummy-ache eating all the cookies. Great fun!)
