Elf's Coat

Page history last edited by Jane McManus 1 year, 8 months ago

This is attributed to a writer for Hummingbirded.com, a link which is no longer active. I used it as a flannel board story. The text is simple enough that you could just recite it with the appropriate actions. Have the kids join in.

Under a toadstool, sat a wee little elf,

He rocked to and fro, and he sang to himself.

     A snippety, snappety

     Hie-diddle-dee

     A clickety-clackety,

     1-2-3

He borrowed some green from the grass on the ground,

From the nut of a tree, he borrowed some brown.

     A snippety, snappety

     Hie-diddle-dee

     A clickety-clackety,

     1-2-3

He cut and he basted, this wee little elf,

Because he was making a coat for himself.

     A snippety, snappety

     Hie-diddle-dee

     A clickety-clackety,

     1-2-3

When his coat was all done, he scampered away.

Singing his song that was happy and gay!

     A snippety, snappety

     Hie-diddle-dee

     A clickety-clackety,

     1-2-3
