Monsters

Here is a monster who growls all day.

Here is a monster who likes to play.

Here is a monster with eyes big and red.

Now, all three monsters, go to bed!

If you think you hear a monster

Growling, but trying to hide.

It's probably your stomach,

Needing some food inside!

A monster always slams the door,

At dinner time he yells for more!

A monster jumps on furniture too.

I'm NOT a monster. Are you?

5 Little monsters by the light of the moon

Stirring the pudding with a long, wooden spoon.

The 1st one said, “It musn’t be runny.”

The 2nd one said, “That would make it taste funny.”

The 3rd one said, “ It musn’t be lumpy.”

The 4th one said, “ That would make me grumpy.”

The 5th one smiled and hummed a little tune,

And licked all the drippings from the long, wooden spoon.

Monster, monster, under the bed,

You should go somewhere else instead!

Go, monster, go

Go, monster, go. (faster)

Go, monster, go! (very fast)

                --STORYTIME CRAFTS

If I were a happy monster, I'd go ha-ha-ha-ha,           (laugh)

If I were a sad monster, I'd go boo-hoo, boo-hoo,      (cry)

If I were a mad monster, I'd go stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp,

If I were a scarey monster, I'd go ahaa, ahaa, ahaa, ahaa.

But I'm just me, you see.                                              (smile)

Something big has been here,

What it was, I do not know,

For I did not see it coming,

And I did not see it go.

But I hope I never meet it,

If I do, I’m in a fix,

For it left behind its footprints,

They are size nine-fifty-six!

--Jack Prelutsky

Oh, what a party!

They all ate hearty

Of elegant bellyache stew.

Then came the cake,

In the shape of a snake,

And trimmed with octopus goo.

The balloons all went BANG!

And everyone sang,

"Happy Birthday, dear Monster, to you."

I am the monster man!            (Point to self)
I wave my arms! I roll my eyes! (Suit actions to words)
I shake my head! I gnash my teeth!
I jump up high! I say "Boo!"
I sit down very quietly, too!

Dances:

“Monster Pokey”
You put your claws in, you take your claws out
You put your claws in, and you shake them all about
You do the wild rumpus and you turn yourself about
That’s what it’s all about
(horns, tail, big feet, and hairy self)

“Monster Stomp”
If you want to be a monster, now’s your chance.
‘Cause everybody’s doing the monster dance.
You just stamp your feet, wave your arms around.           (Stomp, wave arms.)
Stretch ‘em up, stretch ‘em up,                                         (Stretch up arms.)
Then put them on the ground.                                         (Put hands on the floor.)
‘Cause you’re doing the monster stomp.                          (Stomp feet.)
That’s right! You’re doing the monster stomp.                (Stomp feet.)
