Walk Around the World

Children pretend they are taking a walk around the world. But this is in a very strange world with lots of strange roads. You might direct them to start walking on tiptoes past a sleeping giant, then come to a road made of trampolines followed by a road made of ice cream, mucky mud, chewing gum, hot sand, marbles, etc. Once they get the idea, encourage children to suggest other road surfaces to walk on.

Open the car door,

Climb inside,

I get to help

My mommy drive!

Fasten the seat belt,

Shut the door,

Start the motor,

Hear it roar?

Brrr! Brrr! Brrr!

Turn the corner,

Step on the gas,

If the road's clear,

Then, we may pass.

How many miles to Babylon?

Threescore miles and ten.

Can I get there by candlelight?

Yes, and back again.

If your heels are nimble and light,

You may get there by candlelight.
