Tonia also talked about her recent meeting with representatives from Monroe County to discuss the Monroe County Summer Reading Program. They are talking about doing raffles in individual libraries (similar to the Red Wings Summer Reading Program) for prizes. Tonia made it clear that we would need to know what prizes we would have by May.

Tonia announced that all the branch libraries will be hosting birthday parties as part of RPL’s 100th anniversary celebration throughout 2011.

Mary Jo Smith announced that the Gates Public Library will be hosting a 50th anniversary event on January 3, 2011.

We had our annual discussion of the best books of the year.
