Children's Programs

Because space is limited, admission to most children's programs is by token, unless otherwise noted. Free tokens may be picked up 30 minutes before program start time. Attendees must be present in the library to receive a token. We ask that you make every effort to be on time to minimize disruptions, and that strollers be left outside the program room to maximize space for children to participate in program activities. --Bull Run Library, VA

Program Seating Policy

All of the programming during Summer Quest is designed for children. Because of limited seating, most of these programs require tokens/passes, tickets, or advance registration.
Please check with the individual library for specific program requirements. No more than 5 tokens/passes or tickets may be picked up by one person. Please be aware, that if you arrive after the program has started, you will not be admitted even if there is room.

  • Audience size is based on room capacity and is limited by fire code regulations. Each person who enters the program room must have a token or ticket.
  • All programs have specific age limits. Age limits are set by the performers or chosen by us to ensure the quality of the program. There are no exceptions to our age limits as this could be seen as discriminatory to those who have not been admitted into a program. Please be respectful of program guidelines.
  • Tokens/passes and tickets will only be honored until the program’s start time. At that time, those without tokens/passes or tickets will be given any seats still available.
  • Please show consideration for other audience members by removing restless or crying babies and children from the program until they are ready to return and take part appropriately.
  • Strollers are not permitted in the community room or the storytime room during programs.
  • Adults must remain in the library building while their children attend programs.

How to Amuse a Young Child while a Sibling is at a Program

Sit and share a story.
Try out some puzzles.
Listen to Tumblebooks at the children’s computer station.
Pick out a DVD.
Find a music CD or a book on CD to listen to on your way home from the library.
