Crochet Program

Libraries are more than books. Some kids need a little direction to get the creative juices flowing. I gleaned the following from a PUBYAC contributor. If you're a member, check out the archives for 8-20-2011. Please add YOUR comments. Your colleagues would appreciate hearing what works, and what didn't!

  • In brief, everyone said that it is important to have enough helpers for the program.One adult to every child is ideal, one per 3 or four works better.
  • All programs had at least 3 one hour sessions, with one having 6 one hour sessions.
  • Spend a lot of time on the chain stitch until the kids get the hang of it.
  • And one librarian suggested using cotton yarn because it doesn't pull apart as easily.
  • And use a large hook!
