Libraries are more than books. Some kids need a little direction to get the creative juices flowing. See: Sully Library Rocks FB page.
Kindness Rocks: Many libraries have the children paint rocks, and hide them throughout the community. When found, the rocks get hidden again.
For decoupage:
Materials:
- fabric pieces
- wall paper
- decorative paper
- rocks
- decoupage glue
- brushes
- paint
- markers
- stickers
- lacquer spray
Paint the rocks ahead of time, so that when patrons came in, all they have to do is select a rock, what they want to put on it, and start decoupage. OR just have the children paint the rocks, and don't decoupage.
Have paint and markers on hand to add writing if people want it.
Polish off the pieces with clear lacquer spray paint to make them weather resistant.
